Amsterdam Part Three: Tot Zeins!

Grace and I at the I Amsterdam sign. Its so special to unite with friends abroad!

Gogh. I loved the color in his paintings.

I awoke Sunday morning and the sun was shining with the promise for a few last adventures in Amsterdam. I was certainly not ready to leave the city, but confident in how much exploration we accomplished in one weekend. We packed up our bags and made it to one of our last stops of the trip, the Van Gogh Museum. This is certainly a spot not to be missed. We walked through a series of paintings and learned all about Van Gogh. I really love the impressionism style and all the wonderful colors in his paintings. He painted windmills, tulip fields and canals and I recognized the parts of Holland that I loved so much. I was astounded by how many paintings there were and the magnificent size of some of them. Each one held its value, unfolding a new story to the life of Van Gogh. After seeing quite the collection of paintings, we made our way over to the I Amsterdam sign and park that neighbored the museum. We took a series of pictures in front of the sign, climbing our way in and around the letters. After a series of selfies, we explored the park and basked in the morning sun. I looked around and saw nothing but happy faces. People ran through the park with dogs, snapped pictures in front of the I Amsterdam sign and popped in and out the Rijks and Van Gogh museums. We sat by the park along with many others enjoying this area on a Sunday morning.
I Amsterdam on a beautiful Sunday morning! I loved walking around the park and enjoy the wonderful weather.
The Rijks Museum!
Eventually, I packed up my things and headed for the airport and Edinburgh. The weekend flew by so fast and each day was full of a multitude of adventures. I felt as if we were in constant motion, obsessed with capturing ever bit of life in Amsterdam possible. In this desire, and rather love for the city, I know I will be back and visiting soon again. I am interested in finding an internship in Holland next summer working in The Hague. This is the chance to explore my love for politics in one of my favorite cities. Additionally, I hope to come back and visit my cousins soon. It would be so wonderful to one day visit Amsterdam with my family and share the experiences I had there with them. With the drive to be back in Amsterdam, I know I will find a way. Born out of this excitement, I know there are infinite possibilities to travel back to Amsterdam and so many other cities.

A lovely Sunday morning in Amsterdam! We
enjoyed our last little bit of the city in the park

Grace and I enjoying our last day! We had
 so much fun this weekend

My trip to Amsterdam was definitely one of my favorite adventures so far. I loved absolutely every minute of it. The weekend reminded me of my last visit and invited in new experiences to build upon the wonderful times I have had in Amsterdam. I have to thank my parents for this trip and all the ones I have experienced these past few months. Out of my appreciation and fascination with the world, I refuse to bind myself to anything less than full experiences and adventures on every single journey. I desire to see the world and I hope that by doing so I may grow and learn from my experiences. New foods, new histories and new cultures in every place are my chance to learn about new pockets of the world and be inspired by them. While this curiosity drives my liking for travel, I know it will only intensify with every trip I take. There is so much of the world I have yet to see and learn from. By traveling to a wide range of places, I have been able to discern what I like about certain cities and plan where I hope to visit next. My traveling experience abroad is something I will forever cherish and be a wanderlust haven to look back on in the future. I know that I will always invite any chance to visit Amsterdam again and that each trip will invite new explorations. I head back to Edinburgh filled with so many wonderful memories from this weekend to which I cannot wait to share with my family and friends. Amsterdam will always hold a special place in my heart where I may explore part of my own heritage.  In Amsterdam I have found a piece of home abroad.
